Drunken teenager wanted to escape policemen, ended up stuck in car wreck
The 18th district policemen on patrol duty wanted to stop a car in Budapest at Havanna Street on Saturday, March 20th, at half-past eleven in the night, but the events escalated quickly, and even the special equipment of the disaster management unit was needed.
According to Police, their patrolling personnel signalled for the vehicle to stop and pull over, but instead of following the policemen’s instructions, the car just continued, but at a nearby turn, it hit a light pole, and that is when things got more serious.
As it turns out, three boys were travelling in the car, two of them 18 years old and the third only 16. During the investigation, the police found that
one of the 18-year-olds who drove the car not only consumed alcohol and had no driver’s licence but was also prohibited from driving.
According to Origo, the escape attempt did not go smoothly, and one of the passengers was stuck in the car wreck. This was the time when the National Directorate General for Disaster Management was called to help free the young man. The car hit the pole so hard that it broke off and trapped one of the passengers. The disaster management unit was needed for their special hydraulic equipment.
After painstakingly getting them out of the car wreck, they immediately had to be taken to hospital due to their injuries.
And what might hurt them, even more, is that the Police headquarters started a complex investigation into the driver and all the young people travelling in the car. Besides the accident they caused, they also violated the curfew, and the police pressed charges against them.
